ISLAMABAD: In wake of a terror attack by Baloch militants on Chinese teachers at the Karachi University, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed aunthorities to further tighten the security of Chinese professionals working on the China Pakistan Economic Coridoor projects, sources informed Bol News on Tuesday.
The decision was taken in a meeting devised to review the security plans for Chinese nationals based in Pakistan. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal were also part of the meeting.
The premier reiterated that no compromise will be tolerated on the security of Chinese nationals. “Interior minister and security institutions should ensure fool proof security,” he said.

In an intelligence-based operation, meanwhile, on Monday, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Balochistan arrested a suspected female suicide bomber in the Hoshab area of Balochistan, planning to target the Chinese workers in Pakistan.
According to the CTD, the alleged female suicide bomber belonged to the Majeed Brigade wing of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). It was the BLA whose female suicide bomber had carried out an attack at the University of Karachi’s Confucius Institute killing three Chinese nationals. The security officials also recovered explosives and detonators from the alleged suicide bomber.
The arrest was made hours after Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his telephonic conversation with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm resolve to hold a thorough investigation, and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack on Chinese nationals in Karachi attack and bring them to justice.
