Authorities reported Saturday that a Missouri woman escaped her kidnapper after being badly beaten and tortured for two days while being detained against her will.
According to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and troopers responded at 9:30 a.m. to Southeast Apache Drive in Lake Arrowhead to a complaint of a female who had fled a guy who was holding her hostage. There were no immediate details on how the woman escaped or requested assistance. Authorities approached the house where the lady was thought to be detained and attempted unsuccessfully to get people inside to answer and come outside.
During a five-hour standoff, one occupant left the house, while another who stayed inside was considered to be armed and suicidal, according to the sheriff’s office. The Tri-County SWAT team and K-9 Merlin entered the residence and securely apprehended the culprit, identified as James Larson Jr. of Lathrop, who was hiding behind a fake wall.
According to investigators, the victim was hospitalized in critical condition. There was no word about the woman’s injuries or her connection to the perpetrator. Larson was being jailed on an unrelated probation violation warrant with no bail. Once the investigation is concluded, charges in this event are anticipated to be filed with the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
