How to view your Instagram report history

It might seem like wishing on a star when reporting online harassment. You hurl your protest into the ether, hoping that some benign force would hear it, but knowing full well that nothing will come of it. Nonetheless, because you’re an optimist who believes in miracles, you keep trying.

Instagram, thankfully, does not keep you entirely in the dark. Users may see a history of their reports on the image-sharing site, so they can know when action is done against the offender.

It’s possible that the conclusion will be the same whether or not you’re told, but at least you’ll know your complaint didn’t vanish when you press “Submit Report.”

Here’s how to check your Instagram report history:

  • Activate Instagram
  • To access your profile, tap the profile icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
  • In the upper right corner, tap the hamburger icon (“”). A popup menu will appear.
  • To access your settings menu, tap “Settings.”
  • You’ll be sent to Instagram’s help menu if you tap “Help.”
  • “Support Requests” will appear.
  • Select “Reports.”

This will show you a list of the reports you’ve made, along with information on who made the reported post, what you reported it for, and Instagram’s response. When you tap a report, you’ll get more information about it as well as the option to see the reported content.

You can also seek a review of certain of your reports here if the situation has been resolved and you are unhappy with the outcome.

Although hate speech, harassment, and bullying are all prohibited by Instagram’s community standards, these issues continue to plague the network. The platform’s moderation isn’t flawless, too, with some nasty remarks making it through. To protect yourself from the toxicity, you may turn off strangers’ DMs, filter particular terms, and limit or block comments on your account, in addition to reporting them on Instagram. It might not catch everything, especially if you have a persistent harasser. However, it is likely to make Instagram feel a bit less psychologically damaging.
