Buffalo shooting: Ten people were killed in a racially motivated attack at a New York state shop

In what officials are calling a racially motivated crime, an 18-year-old white guy shot and killed ten people in a black neighborhood in New York State.

The suspect, Payton Gendron, was apprehended following a standoff at the location, a supermarket in Buffalo, according to court documents.

He opened fire in the parking lot of the store before entering and continuing his rampage while live-streaming the attack.

President Joe Biden of the United States condemned the “abhorrent” act.

“We’re looking into this as a hate crime and a case of racially motivated violent extremism,” FBI Buffalo agent Stephen Belongia said, adding that there was evidence of “race hostility.”

According to CBS News, the attacker yelled racist obscenities during the shooting and had a racial slur scrawled on his weapon. He also allegedly published a manifesto on the internet that contained racist language and concepts.

The guy is thought to have travelled 200 kilometers to reach the city’s primarily black region. A total of thirteen persons were shot, with the bulk of the casualties being black.

“He got out of his car. He had a lot of weapons. He was dressed for battle. He was wearing a tactical helmet. He was using a camera to live-stream what he was doing “Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia of the Buffalo Police Department told reporters.
