KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed for strict screening and monitoring of sub variant of Omicron virus across Sindh including Karachi and Hyderabad, Bol news reported on Friday quoting sources.
The sources said the CM was apprised that two cases of sub variant of Omicron virus were reported by Agha Khan Hospital’s laboratory. Upon which, the chief minister directed to take stringent measures to contain the virus.
Omicron virus is itself a variant of Coronavirus.

On May 10, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had issued instructions to revive the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) keeping in view the emergence of a new variant of the Omicron virus.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) had reported the first case of the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1 of COVID-19 in Pakistan and strongly recommended people wear masks and complete their vaccination.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, taking note of the growing number of cases of a new variant of Omicron virus, had summoned a report from the Ministry of National Health on the current situation.
