The Iraqi military reported three Islamic State (IS) fighters were killed in an airstrike in the western Iraqi province of Anbar on Friday.
According to the Iraqi Joint Operations Command’s media office, the terrorists were killed in an attack on an IS hideaway in the southern rural area of Kubaysah, a town some 200 kilometres west of Baghdad, based on intelligence sources.
Iraqi security forces have launched operations against extremist terrorists in recent months to combat their increased activity. Since 2017, the security situation in Iraq has improved. IS remnants, on the other hand, have disappeared into urban areas, deserts, and difficult terrain, launching periodic guerrilla operations against security troops and civilians.
