Ex-foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has challenged the incumbent Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to reveal the name of the PTI minister who threatened him ahead of the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan.
Qureshi’s responded after Bilawal’s speech in the National Assembly (NA) earlier today in which he alleged, “I received a message from a PTI minister a night before the no-confidence vote to either go for general elections immediately or martial law would be imposed.”
He also said that then prime minister Imran Khan abrogated the constitution instead of facing the no-trust vote motion.
He also called for the house to investigate the events leading to the no-confidence voting day starting from April 3 and after probing into those, move forward on that front against the appropriate officials.
The foreign minister also backed his father’s stance on the early elections. He reiterated that PPP first wants electoral reforms before the elections take place.
The challenge
While talking to Bol News, Qureshi in response challenged Bilawal to reveal the name of the PTI minister who threatened him. “If you have the courage then take the name of the minister on the floor of the house,” he said.
He said PPP wants PML-N to take ‘sour and tough’ decisions, adding that PPP has made this arrangement to make the accountability process dysfunctional.
The ex-minister said that Bilawal and his father (Zardari) are not in favour of the elections as they fear wipe-off from Sindh as well.
