Karachi: A development has been reported in the Senior Journalist Athar Mateen murder case as the recovered pistol from the accused and the shells found at the spot matched.
As per details, the investigation team has submitted the interim challan to the court which has been accepted for the hearing.
The police disclosed the details that the accused Ashraf who was arrested by Manghopir police confessed to the crime during the investigation.
The interim challan also maintained that the accused was booked under the murder case of Athar Mateen while his associate was killed in an encounter.
Three eyewitnesses of the incident also identified the accused. They said that the deceased miscreant was riding the bike.

The investigation team said that the pistol used in the incident was thrown by the accused in the bushes and later recovered and sent for forensics.
Notably, the senior journalist Athar Mateen was shot dead in the month of February by two motorcycle-riding assailants who try to stop a car while pointing gun toward it.
The car driver speedily hits them from one side. The suspects survive the hit.
The slain journalist also reaches the exact same spot after dropping his children at school in the morning. He also hits the motorcycle falling the suspects to the ground. Then, he reverses his car and again tries to run over the bike but in vain. Meanwhile, the robbers opened fire on him leaving him dead.
