Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, has signed a security declaration with Sweden, pledging UK support if it’s military is attacked.

Later, he is set to make the same pledge to Finland; the PM is visiting both nations as they ponder joining the Nato defense alliance.

Russia has warned that joining Nato will have consequences, as members perceive an attack on one as an attack on all.

However, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, public support for joining Nato has grown in Sweden and Finland, both of which have a long tradition of wartime neutrality.

Meanwhile, pro-Russian authorities in Kherson, in southern Ukraine, will request that the region be annexed by Russia, according to state news media.

Ukraine has also stated that it will shift natural gas flows to avoid a critical eastern transit point from Russia to Europe.
