Wendy Crozier, Ken Barlow’s former lover, is returning to Coronation Street for a dramatic new plotline. It is revealed that actress Roberta Kerr will reprise her role for the new plot for the first time in over a decade.

A source told, “Wendy was run out of the cobbles by Ken ten years ago after she tried to rekindle their affair and she’s stayed away.

“But this summer she will make a comeback as a social worker involved with another street resident and end up bumping into her old flame.

“Has Wendy changed or will she want to get her claws back into Ken?”

Wendy first stepped onto the cobbles in 1989 as a council source for journalist Ken Barlow at the time.

Wendy was sacked after his wife Deirdre exposed her, but Ken hired her at his newspaper, where their affair began.

Ken lost the newspaper and later his job as a result of Deirdre’s vengeance, with Wendy taking his place as editor.

Wendy developed a close relationship with Ken’s daughter Tracy despite this.

Ken, however, left Wendy after becoming depressed about the situation of his life and finally reconciled with Deirdre.

Wendy returned to Weatherfield after the loss of her husband Christos in 2012.

She returned to Bessie Street School as a Governor, but Ken was adamant about keeping his distance until she persuaded him that they could just be friends.

Wendy, on the other hand, used her scheming skills to get Ken intoxicated and let him sleep on her sofa, only to lie to his wife Deirdre about it.

Ken told her that because of her betrayal, they would never be friends again.
