In a recent interview, Deepika Padukone discussed the diversity in Hollywood casting, which she refers to as “surface level.”
In an interview with Vogue, the Gehraiyaan actress stated that there is still a long way to go before people notice a difference in Hollywood’s efforts to recruit diverse actors.
“Right now, the conversation around diversity in Hollywood is surface-level,” the 36-year-old actor stated. It’s called ‘diversity casting’ as soon as a Black or Asian actor appears.”
“However, we have a long way to go before we see significant improvement.” “I believe that 80% of those in authority still see inclusive casting as a checkbox to be checked,” Deepika added.
