Julia Roberts writes a heartfelt Mother’s Day card

Julia Roberts’ latest Mother’s Day article focused on empowering women and their freedom to “become a mother or not.”

On Sunday, the Notting Hill actress took to Instagram to post a selfie with her mother.

Interestingly, the Pretty Woman actor added a dramatic comment beside the photo that refers to the ongoing discussion in America on the Roe versus Wade legislation, a lawsuit that protects the rights of pregnant women and decriminalises abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy.

The 54-year-old actress believed that a woman should have the right to her body, whether she conceived a child or not, and this is what she intended to communicate with her thoughtful message.

“Mother’s Day greetings… “May we be Mothers when, how, and IF we desire,” she wrote.

The caption quickly divided the internet, with the actress limiting her comment area.

Celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston and Rita Wilson, on the other hand, used a heart-shaped emoji to show their support for Roberts.

Nonetheless, a few netizens chastised her for advocating abortion.

A few days ago, the Eat Pray Love actress shared a vintage video of Kamala D. Harris, then Senator and now Vice President of the United States of America, asking Judge Brett Kavanaugh a question about laws that give the government the authority to make decisions about the male body.

Meanwhile, Roberts will be seen with George Clooney in the romcom Ticket to Paradise, which is set to be released on October 21.
