A judicial magistrate of Attock on Monday granted bail to Sheikh Rashid’s nephew Sheikh Rashid Shafique in the case registered over Al-Masjid an-Nabawi incident.
The lawmaker was produced before the court upon completion of his two-day physical remand.
MNA Shafique had posted a video on a social media networking site in which he supported the sloganeering against the Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif and other government officials. Following this, he was booked at the Islamabad International Airport (IIA) upon his arrival from Saudi Arabia on May 1 after it was alleged that Shafique orchestrated the scene at the holy mosque.

During the hearing, Shafique’s counsel argued that the incident took place in Saudi Arabia while the case was registered in Pakistan. He maintained that the case was merely political vengeance against his client. The counsel also pointed out that the prime minister nor the information minister became plaintiffs in the case.
After the conclusion of the arguments, Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Arif announced the reserved verdict and granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Sheikh Rashid Shafique.
