Jennifer Grey, Johnny Depp’s former fiancée, has come out about the actor’s continuing divorce battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, saying the experience makes her “sad” and “breaks her heart.”
The Dirty Dancing actress, who was briefly engaged to Depp, 58, in the late 1980s, spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the case.
She said: “All I can say about that trial is that it breaks my heart for everybody involved.
“I just think it’s sad and I wish it was resolved and I just wish everybody well,” she added.
The 62-year-old described how she felt when she first became romantically involved with the actor, just after her romance with Matthew Broderick, 60, ended.
The Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star explained: “To me, this guy was the answer to my problems. This guy was sweet, and loving, and romantic, and crazy about me, and beautiful.”
She revealed she was in “desperate need” of rebounding into something that “looked and felt like 1989 Johnny Depp.”
“I was bleeding out inside and this guy saved me and just made me… not feel what I was feeling,” she added.
Depp, who was married to Heard, 36, from 2015 to 2017, is suing her for defamation after she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post in 2018.
Heard claimed Depp sexually attacked her with a vodka bottle and kicked her in the back during her second day on the stand.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star’s spokesman has subsequently come out and accused Heard of “delivering the performance of her life.”
They further claimed that in court, The Danish Girl star added “new elements” to her recollections, while Depp’s “remained exactly the same.”
“As [his] counsel predicted in their opening statements last month, Ms. Heard delivered ‘the performance of her life’ in her direct examination,” the spokesman said.
“While Ms. Heard’s stories have continued to grow new and convenient details, Mr. Depp’s recollections have remained exactly the same throughout the six painful years since her first allegations were made.”
The trial continues.
