Nicola Coughlan, star of Derry Girls, has spoken out about her friendship with US TV celebrity Kim Kardashian.

The American actor messaged the Bridgerton actress in 2021 since she is a huge admirer of the Netflix period drama.

Nicola said: “I woke up one morning and had a DM from Kim Kardashian.

“I was like, ‘What is going on?’ So weird! We talked about Bridgerton.”

Nicola messaged Kim to wish her well ahead of her appearance on Saturday Night Live, and the two have remained in touch since.

The 35-year-old said: “I messaged Kim to say, ‘You’re gonna do great!’ And she said, ‘Thanks, I’m really nervous’.

“I told her, ‘No, you’re gonna kill it.’

“She’s so nice. I’d heard that about her from lots of different people, and I can attest to it now…

“Well, now I’m, like, best friends with Kim Kardashian,” the Derry Girls actress explained.
