Tornadoes slammed towns in Texas and Oklahoma on Wednesday, leaving “heartbreaking” destruction, although no significant casualties were recorded. On Wednesday night, tornadoes struck the communities of Lockett, Texas, and Seminole, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt described the tornado devastation in Seminole as “heartbreaking,” but expressed gratitude that no significant casualties were reported.
“The destruction caused by yesterday night’s storms in Seminole is terrible, but I am thankful that no significant injuries have been reported,” Stitt added.
After the tornado passed through town, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that multiple power lines were down. Seminole was slammed by the storm roughly two days after another tornado struck the town. According to the National Weather Service, a “large and deadly tornado” slammed Lockett, Texas during the storms on Wednesday.
The tornado did not result in any serious injuries or deaths, although it did destroy some homes and barns. According to the National Weather Service, severe weather is expected to return to the Southeast on Thursday, affecting parts of Kentucky, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Alabama.
