Amnesty International has accused a prominent armed organization in Libya of committing terrible atrocities against migrants and Tripoli locals.

According to the report, the state-funded Stability Support Authority (SSA) has committed illegal executions, torture, forced labor, and arbitrary detentions.

The SSA was established in January of last year by a decree issued by former Prime Minister Fayez al-Serraj.

Amnesty International has written to Libyan authorities urging that its head, Abdul Ghani al-Kikli, be removed from office.

He has a well-documented criminal background, according to the report.

Militias have held power in many regions of conflict-torn Libya since the overthrow and assassination of the country’s long-time leader, Muammar Gaddafi, in 2011.
