Pakistan, UAE agree to cement bilateral economic cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation including in the fields of trade, energy, infrastructure, petroleum and other important sectors.

An understanding to this effect came during the visit of a high-level economic delegation of the UAE to Pakistan on Tuesday.

The delegation’s visit was in follow up of recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the UAE.

Talking to the delegation, the prime minister said that Pakistan attached highest priority to its brotherly relations with the UAE and desired to strengthen the relations to the next level especially on the economic front.

He said the high-level visit during the Eid holidays exhibited the keenness of the UAE to invest in our country.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan warmly welcomed the brotherly gesture, and had keen interest to welcome significant investments from the Emirati brothers.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact for the implementation of the investment and trade decisions made at the leadership level.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz Sharif and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have agreed to remain in close contact to further advance bilateral collaboration and cooperation in the international arena.

The two leaders agreed to this during a telephone call made by the PM to Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday. Shehbaz conveyed Eid greetings to him and the brotherly people of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The prime minister thanked the crown prince for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their recent visit to the UAE, and recalled his extensive consultations with the crown prince.
