The process of evacuating residents from Mariupol is currently underway, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
A spokesperson said, “The ICRC confirms that a safe passage operation is ongoing, in coordination with the UN and the parties to the conflict.”
The convoy to evacuate civilians started on 29 April.
It travelled 230 kilometers and reached the Azovstal plant on Saturday.
The ICRC can’t share further details before the situation calms.
It could harm the safety of the civilians and the convoy.
Local authorities are communicating with the civilians to acquire explicit details.
