House Speaker Nancy Pelosi travelled to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday.
She conveyed “a strong statement to the world that America stands with Ukraine.”
Since Russia’s incursion began more than two months ago, Pelosi led the first official US congressional delegation to visit the country.
Pelosi told reporters in Rzeszow, Poland, that “America stands with Ukraine, we stand with Ukraine until victory is gained, and we stand with NATO.”
During Pelosi’s visit, she and Zelensky addressed humanitarian and financial help, according to Pelosi.
She called meeting with Zelensky “a great honor” and said she wanted to “send to him a message of unity from the US Congress as well as a message of thankfulness.”
