The US Congressional Delegation, led by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, paid a visit to Kyiv to convey a clear message to the rest of the world: America is committed to Ukraine.
Following their visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of a congressional delegation issued the following statement.
This is the first formal congressional delegation to visit Ukraine since Russia’s invasion, according to the statement. The entire delegation will go to southeast Poland and Warsaw, including Chairman Jim McGovern, Chairman Gregory Meeks, Chairman Adam Schiff, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Congressman Bill Keating, and Congressman Jason Crow.
“Our group travelled to Kyiv to give a clear and loud message to the entire world: America is committed to Ukraine.” President Zelenskyy began our conversation by thanking the United States for the significant support that we have provided. The statement continues, “He underlined the evident need for continuing US security, economic, and humanitarian aid to alleviate the tragic human toll placed on the Ukrainian people by Putin’s diabolic invasion.”
The US Congressional Delegation proudly relayed the message that more American help is on the way, and they are working to turn President Biden’s substantial funding proposal into legislation.
The members of the Delegation also expressed their admiration for President Zelensky’s leadership and their respect for the Ukrainian people’s courage in the face of Russian oppression.
The US Congressional Delegation is now in Poland, where they will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda and other top authorities.
“When we return to the United States, we will be better informed, more inspired, and more prepared to assist the Ukrainian people in defending democracy for their country and the world,” the US Congressional Delegation added.
A reminder that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, in Kyiv on May 1, 2022.
