Kate Garraway explains leave from GMB

Kate Garraway have explained why she was not present in Good Morning Britain this week, saying she had “urgent” to attend to at home. The host, 54, usually presents GMB alongside Ben Shephard at the end of the week, but later was replaced by Charlotte Hawkins on yesterday’s episode

She posted on her Instagram account and told  why she wasn’t there. She said, “So apologies for my absence from @gmb this last week – had to deal with some “urgents” at home.

“But before that managed to get a whole hour dollop of #garrawaysgoodstuff in the bag for you.”

Today, her guests were Peter Andre and James Bay.

While posting a video of them trying out trampolining in the studio, she added, “Great #feelgood shares from @peterandre & @jamesbaymusic – plus this?!

“Note to self – wear a sports bra – note to @peterandre – wear a belt. Join me 8.30am on @itv.”

She mixed her role as one of ITV’s stars with caring for her husband Derek, fell ill after catching COVID two years ago.

Though Derek is still not fine, he has returned home to be with his family. Kate and their two kids, as they all take care of him back to health after a tough couple of years.

Kate told last week she was “quite overwhelmed,” she met nurse who saved his husband’s life. Beth, appeared on GMB having also looked after author Michael Rosen during his illness, told Kate, “We did everything we could. We put our all into it.”

Kate replied: “Thank you so much, that’s amazing. I don’t know whether I can leap up and hug you, but I’m going to. Are we allowed to? We’re allowed to hug now, aren’t we?”

She said, “It’s interesting isn’t it that now at last… everything was focused on the lungs, and then people were understanding there is fatigue, which is actually a neurological problem anyway, and now more and more we are realizing the wider impact.”
