Swedish Defense Officials claim Russia violated Swedish airspace boundary

A Russian observation plane momentarily crossed Sweden’s airspace. Say Swedish defense authorities, as the Scandinavian nation considers a bid for NATO participation after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

“A Russian AN-30 propeller plane disregarded Swedish airspace on Friday evening,”. The Swedish defense service said in an explanation on Saturday evening. Adding that its groups had followed the episode and shot it.

The service said the plane was flying east of Bornholm. Which means a Danish island in the Baltic before it headed towards A Swedish area.

“It is absolutely unsuitable to abuse Swedish airspace,” public TV SVT cited Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist as saying.
