Reema Juffali, Saudi racing sensation, will compete in her first complete season in a GT3 series this weekend in Portugal’s International GT Open Championship.
Juffali will return to the SPS Automotive Performance team for the season-opening race in Estoril, which will be her first competitive appearance since finishing second in the GT3-AM class at this year’s Dubai 24 Hours race in January.
She’ll share the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 car #18 with British colleague Adam Christodoulou, a seasoned GT3 driver who won the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2016.
With a strong field confirmed for the competition, Juffali is excited to take on the task of putting her skills and abilities to the test in GT racing.
“It’s going to be amazing getting behind the wheel again with SPS Automotive Performance this weekend in Estoril for the opening round of the GT Open Championship,” Juffali, who was the official racing ambassador for the inaugural F1 Saudi Arabia race in 2021, stated.
“It’s been a few months since I finished second in the Dubai 24 Hours earlier this year, which is one of my proudest accomplishments to date.”
“GT racing is something that I’m extremely enthusiastic about, and every competition, like every race that I’ve participated in, will bring challenges and opportunity to learn, and the International GT Open Championship will be no different,” she continued.
“I’m aware that I’ll have to be at the top of my game due to the stiff competition, but I’m eager to get started.”
SPS Automotive Performance, the 2018 International GT Open Pro-Am Championship winners, will also field a Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Dexter Müller and Yannick Mettler sharing the driving responsibilities of the #54 car.
The International GT Open is a seven-round event that will take place in France (Paul Ricard), Belgium (Spa), Hungary (Hungaroring), Austria (Red Bull Ring), and Italy (Monza) before concluding in Spain (Barcelona) in October.
