Despite recent economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Australia’s visit of the island nation is poised to go ahead as planned this summer.

Both Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Cricket Australia (CA) issued confirmations to this effect on Thursday (April 28).

“As of now, there is no change,” SLC secretary Mohan de Silva said, while SLC president Shammi Silva indicated the tour will go forward.

CA is expected to release its roster on Friday morning. CA will also send an A squad to Sri Lanka for the first time since the epidemic, in addition to the senior men’s tour.

CA ruling will be viewed favorably by others as well.

The prospects of the Asia Cup T20 event taking place in Sri Lanka, as scheduled in September, have improved, albeit no final decision has been made.

The event has been overshadowed by the country’s political and economic crises, but an Asian Cricket Council (ACC) official has stated that they will make their decisions after the Australia trip.

The tour received CA’s approval after a security team visited Sri Lanka to examine the situation, which has seen major protests due to the worsening economic situation.

Between June 7 and July 12, three Twenty20 Internationals, five One-Day Internationals, and two Tests will be played.

Colombo and Kandy will host the white ball games that will precede the Tests. Galle will host two tests.

In Colombo and Hambantota, Australia A will play two one-day games and as many four-day matches.
