After making the decision at a meeting, a mosque and Uttar Pradesh’s largest temple shut down their loudspeakers to send a message of communal and religious harmony, according to Hindustan Times.

Imam Hafiz Mohammad Taj Alam and priest Shanti Mohan Dass agreed to remove the speakers from the religious structures, which had been there for years.

Both are near to one other and are among the most prestigious institutions in the area. The mosque transmitted Azaan five times a day, while the temple used the speaker for morning aarti.

They couldn’t let the loudspeakers become a point of dispute, according to Alam.

“We’ve been living in peace, and these (loudspeakers) must not be permitted to interfere.” I pray for the country to be united in this way. He explained, “We have little speakers within the mosque that ensure the sound doesn’t spread outside.”

The choice was made, according to Dass, to disseminate a message of fraternity and unity.
