NCA organises exhibition to raise awareness about HIV

LAHORE: An exhibition of HIV awareness posters was organised at the National College of Arts (NCA), in which more than 30 students participated.

The programme was jointly organised by NCA and Punjab AIDS Control Program. The purpose of the exhibition was to raise awareness about HIV and to dispel misconceptions about it.

Many posters were displayed with cognisance messages inscribed on them regarding the disease and how to and what necessary measures one should take for protection from the disease.

The symbolic messages were inscribed on the posters to create and disseminate important information and awareness regarding the highly sensitive issue.

The basic purpose of conducting an exhibition is to educate the masses that by adopting simple precautions in daily life, we can protect ourselves from this heinous disease.

Punjab AIDS Control Programme Project Director Dr Awais, who was the special guest at the exhibition, said that every year thousands of people get infected with HIV due to a lack of awareness about it.

He added, “We must hate the disease, not the patient. The disease is not spread by touching, talking, or sitting nearby. We can easily avoid this deadly disease by taking some precautionary measures.”

NCA Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Murtaza Jafri in his message said that NCA always participates in social service campaigns and community service is their primary responsibility. “We regularly hold lectures, conferences, exhibitions, and workshops to raise awareness about such infectious diseases.”

The HIV awareness show was viewed and appreciated NCA faculty, students, and college staff.
