Johnny Depp claimed that his connection with actor Paul Bettany “would result in all kinds of annoyances” between him and Amber Heard.
Johnny Depp claimed that his ex-wife Amber Heard and his friend Paul Bettany did not get along, implying that she felt threatened by their time together.
Depp, described Heard’s previous contacts with Bettany as “abominable,” stating they frequently butted heads while they were together, when addressing questions from his lawyers on the stand.
Depp told, “Ms. Heard despised Mr. Bettany, mainly because we had become such close friends, and for her he was a threat and would take me away from her, with regard to if Paul Bettany were getting the attention from me, that was a show-stopper. It would cause all kinds of unpleasantries.”
He remembers being with Bettany, 50, his wife Jennifer Connelly, and their children at one point. Heard and the WandaVision actor got into a “lunchtime dispute,” according to Depp, and “every time Mr. Bettany tried to make a point, she would talk over him.”
Depp said, “He voiced his opinion, and Ms. Heard demeaned that young man to the point of where he burst into tears and walked away,”
Depp said he later told Heard that “behavior was unacceptable” and that she “had no right.” He said he told her, “You cannot always be right. You should try being wrong sometime, because you might learn something.”
