As first trailer for After Life star’s new film emerges, UK premiere confirmed

The film will follow an inventor and his robot as they form a bond.

David Earl’s new feel-good comedy, which will premiere during the Sundance Film Festival in London, has been announced.

Jim Archer’s film Brian and Charles, which will be presented by Time Out, stars the actor. Earl will play Brian, a lonely and bereft inventor who creates an artificial intelligence robot out of scraps, including an old washing machine.

As their strange friendship develops, Charles (Chris Hayward) finds himself dealing with an unusual preoccupation with cabbages.

“A touching and engaging book about friendship, family, discovering love, and letting go,” says the author of Brian and Charles.

On June 12, the film will be screened as the festival’s closing feature.

Earl and Hayward not only star in the film alongside Louise Brealey, but they’re also the writers.

Earl previously played Brian Gittins, a hoarder with an array of colorful interests, in the Ricky Gervais-led Netflix dramedy After Life.

Sundance London will begin on June 9 and will last for five days, showing new films, documentaries, animated projects, and even a surprise film.

A Love Song starring Dale Dickey, National Geographic’s Fire of Love, Rebecca Hall’s single parenthood drama Resurrection, Lena Dunham’s Sharp Stick, and Emma Thompson’s Good Luck, Leo Grande are among the other highlights.

Makassar is a City for Football Fans, which won the Jury Prize at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival in Asia, Stranger Than Rotterdam with Sara Driver, an animated short that won the Short Film Special Jury Award for its screenplay, and the immigration short film Warsha, which won the Jury Award for International Fiction at the 2022 Sundance for short films, are also featured.
