POLICE OFFICERS IN PARIS reportedly opened fire, killing two people, when anti-Emmanuel Macron demonstrators took to the capital’s streets following the second round of the French Presidential Election in 2022.

Protests have broken out across France in the aftermath of the 2022 Presidential Election outcome.

Emmanuel Macron will retain the Elysee Palace for another five years after defeating Marine Le Pen of the National Rally for the second time in a row.

Mr. Macron is expected to win the 2022 election by a narrower margin than he did in 2017.

According to IPSOS, the French President is expected to earn 58.8 percent of the vote, compared to 41.2 percent for the far-right contender.

However, Mr. Macron’s detractors demonstrated their unhappiness with the outcome.

According to reports, riot police made contact with protestors and fired tear gas.

Elsewhere in the French capital, it has been alleged that two persons were murdered when police opened fire on a vehicle that refused to halt in response to a police request to do so.

Paul Suzy, a columnist for CNews and a journalist at Paris’s daily morning newspaper Le Figaro, claimed gunshots were heard during the protests.

Mr. Sugy told his 13,000 Twitter followers in French: “Gunshots heard at the Pont Neuf, in the square du Vert-Galant.

“According to witnesses on the spot, a man forced a police barrage, which responded by firing automatic weapons.

“Several victims on the ground are taken care of by the emergency services.”

Mr. Sugy added: “The police confirm a refusal to comply. Two people were killed.”

However, there is yet no information on the driver’s name or the circumstances surrounding his hasty approach to the police.

According to Agence France-Presse, two persons were killed in an incident in the French capital.

They said: “Police officers fired this evening in Paris on a vehicle which tried to hit them, killing two occupants of the vehicle and injuring a third, learned the AFP from a police source.”
