Load-shedding: PM Shehbaz blames Imran govt, orders interim steps

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday instructed to take emergency measures to significantly reduce load-shedding by the next month as he blamed the policies of the Imran Khan government for power outages.

PM Shehbaz said he will not sit back till the problem is resolved. He directed to make every possible effort to provide relief to the people from the pain caused by the criminal negligence of the previous government.

He said interim measures should be taken till a sufficient amount of oil and gas is arranged.

PM Shehbaz said the government led by ex-premier Nawaz Sharif had arranged sufficient electricity in the country, but unfortunately, the previous government led by former premier Imran Khan failed to add a single unit to it.

He claimed Imran Khan’s government neither procured fuel in time nor ensured maintenance of the power plants.

He said, “What an irony it is that the Imran government shut down the most efficient and affordable power plants installed by PML-N government and used expensive and inefficient plants.”

The premier said the nation is paying Rs100 billion monthly for this excess of the previous government.

He said due to the negligence of the previous rulers, one LNG ship that was costing Rs6 billion is now costing the nation Rs20 billion. “This tyranny of Imran government will cost the nation more than Rs500 billion this year.”

He claimed that the previous rulers hatched a conspiracy to bankrupt Pakistan’s economy by destroying the energy sector.
