As Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, they became the first team in history to win the Bundesliga title 10 times in succession.
After 15 minutes, Serge Gnabry scored with a volley from the penalty spot. After a defensive blunder by Dortmund, Robert Lewandowski doubled the hosts’ lead on 34 minutes.
Following a tense finish, Jamal Musiala scored with seven minutes remaining to seal the win for Borussia Dortmund.
This is Julian Nagelsmann’s first title as Bayern coach, but it continues an era of dominance in Germany. Before Bayern, no team had won three consecutive Bundesliga titles.
“This is the best,” said Thomas Muller, the first player to win 11 league titles. “This isn’t dull. This is amazing. The more you win, the hungrier you become.”
Bayern clinched the title with five games to spare after beating Dortmund for the second time this season, 3-2 on Dec. 4.
