Foreign funding case: PTI approaches court against ‘biased’ ECP

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the biased conduct of the electoral body in the foreign funding issue.

The petition has been filed by Anwar Mansoor and Shah Khawar in the IHC on behalf of PTI leader Amir Kayani.

The PTI has made 17 political parties respondents in the petition along with the election commission of Pakistan (ECP). These parties include PML-N, PPP, MQM-P, Jamaat-e-Islami JI), Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), BAP, BNP, ANP, and others.

The petition said the ECP is acting partially on the issue of foreign funding of political parties.

It maintained that ECP is refraining from the scrutiny of accounts of 17 political parties and PTI is an affectee of the electoral body’s biased conduct.

The petition also read that the electoral body should be directed to publicise the details of SBP’s report and conclude cases against all parties in a month.
