Officials of the Punjab Police, whose utmost responsibility is to protect and provide security to the people, have themselves been found embroiled in different criminal activities in the province.
The shocking revelation came after the Punjab Information Commission sought details from the additional inspector general (AIG) office regarding the concerned issue after a petition was filed by a citizen through the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2013.
According to the report obtained by Bol News, it has been divulged that multitude of policemen are involved and associated with felonious activities.

The statistics show that 45 policemen have been involved in the business of narcotics, most of them (20) selling charas. Similarly, 1,597 policemen were caught for their involvement in multiple criminal practices including murder (117), rape (28), kidnapping (61) and others. While one police official had been found to be embroiled in vehicle snatching.

On the other hand, the report also reveals that nine weapons were snatched from police officials in difference parts of the province. The snatched weapons include four teargas guns and five SMG rifles. While one other SMG rifle was stolen.
