Pakistan hoping for US investments in all economic sectors: Miftah

Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail said that attracting United States (US) foreign investments in all sectors of Pakistan’s economy is the government’s top priority.

He was talking to the delegation of US Pakistan Business Council in Washington- underscored that the country has a very long and productive relationship with Pakistan.

Miftah Ismail highlighted that the Shehbaz Sharif-led government is focused on creating business-friendly environment in the country.

The Finance Minister identified various areas in Pakistan’s economy, particularly agriculture, technology sector, pharmaceutical, health sectors and digital banking where the US companies can enhance their investments in Pakistan.

Earlier, Miftah Ismail reached Washington on Friday to hold a meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials.

The finance minister joined Governor State Bank of Pakistan Reza Baqir who was already in Washington for talks with IMF.

As per sources, the talks focus on proposals for the next budget and in case of successful negotiations, IMF will release a $ 1 billion installment.
