IPL 2022: Buttler achieves major Milestone

Jos Buttler scored his third century in the Indian Premier League’s 2022 season (IPL) on Friday.

At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, England wicketkeeper reached the milestone against Rishabh Pant. Buttler, who is also the IPL 2022 Orange Cap holder, scored his century in just 57 balls.

Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal made a calm start when the Capitals chose to field first but put on the accelerator after getting their eyes in.

The pair put up 155 runs for the first wicket in 15.1 overs to put the Royals in control. Buttler continued his fine job after Padikkal got out.

Buttler went on to score 116 runs off 65 balls, hitting nine fours and as many sixes as he did. The Royals notched up a mammoth score of 222/2 on the board as a result of his knock.

Buttler has joined Virat Kohli, former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, in an elite group of cricketers.

After Kohli, the 33-year-old right-hander became the second hitter in the cash-rich T20 competition to score three or more hundreds in a single season.

Kohli scored 973 runs in 16 games in 2016, with a strike rate of 152.03 and four tones to show for his efforts.

Buttler has 491 runs in seven games, with an average of 81.83 and a 161.51 strike rate.

Buttler had previously achieved hundreds against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of Shreyas Iyer and the Mumbai Indians of Rohit Sharma (MI). Both knocks helped  Royals to catch their wins.
