KARACHI: The Sindh government on Thursday announced to include Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharjeel Inam Memon in the provincial cabinet, said a notification.
Memon will take oath as a minister tomorrow. Meanwhile, Sindh Transport Minister Owais Qadir Shah is relinquished from his post. Sources privy to development informed Bol News that Memon will be given the ministry of information. The party high command has given its approval for his appointment.
Sharjeel Memon was in jail from October 25, 2017 to June 25, 2019 on a series of graft cases filed against his previous tenure as the provincial information minister.
Sharjeel Memon is accused of hiring people illegally while serving as the Sindh information minister.

According to the NAB, Sharjeel Memon own more assets than his sources of income. NAB has filed a Rs 2.2 billion corruption reference against him. His wife and mother have been named in the case too.
NAB has also accused him of misusing the Rs 5.7 billion the information ministry paid to advertising agencies for awareness campaigns between 2013 and 2015. He was serving as Sindh’s information minister at the time. Back in September 2020, the Sindh High Court granted permission to remove the name of Sharjeel Inam Memon’s wife Sadaf Sharjeel from the Exit Control List.
