Netherlands Coach out of induced coma following a heart attack

Ryan Campbell, current head coach of the Netherlands men’s team, is out of an induced coma but remains in intensive care after having a heart attack on Saturday.

While out with his family in the UK on Saturday, the fifty-year-old experienced chest problems and difficulties breathing.

According to Campbell’s brother Mark, who appeared on local radio on Tuesday, physicians had done a successful move, with no evidence of brain injury.

“The severe sedation has been removed, and he has awoken.”

“They’re just trying to figure out what’s wrong with his heart right now “, Mark Campbell remarked.

“They’re still stumped as to why his heart is still racing. So that’s something more they’re going to look into over there.”

Campbell had recently returned to Europe after a tour of New Zealand with the Dutch squad and had visited friends and extended family in his hometown of Perth just a week before.

Campbell, who played for both Australia and Hong Kong at the international level, was named Dutch coach in January 2017.

In 2016, he made his T20I debut for Hong Kong in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, making him the oldest player to do so aged 44 years and 30 days.
