According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, after the shooting, witnesses reported Eric Lee Elliott put his rifle in his vehicle and went about his yardwork as if nothing had occurred.

According to officials in Texas, a quarrel between two neighbours over a stray dog resulted in the death of one man.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the suspects, Eric Lee Elliott, 70, and William Duncan Womack, 60, had a long-standing feud about Womack’s dog wandering wild in the area.
After the dog went into Elliott’s yard while he was performing yardwork on Friday afternoon, they got into an altercation.
According to the news release, “when Elliott noticed Womack’s step-daughter, he threatened her that if they didn’t keep their dog out of his yard, he was going to kill the dog.”
According to the sheriff’s office, the stepdaughter informed Womack, who walked outside to confront Elliott. According to witnesses, Elliott kicked Womack in the leg and then grabbed a revolver from his belt and shot Womack once in the stomach. Womack was sent to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses told the sheriff’s office that Elliott put his rifle in his truck after the incident and went about his yardwork as if nothing had occurred. Elliott was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder. According to jail records, he is being detained on a $1 million bail.
