In yet another heinous act of violence against women, a man in Maharashtra, India, is accused of killing his wife because she oversalted the khichdi she gave him for breakfast.

According to India.com, the guy, Nilesh Ghagh, 46, strangled his 40-year-old wife Nirmala to death at approximately 9:30 a.m. after losing his fury over the food being too salty.

The suspect strangled his wife with a long piece of fabric, according to police, who noted that the case is still under investigation and that officials are seeking to determine if there was any other motive for the murder.

In South Asia, violence against women is common, and women have been killed for petty reasons. A similar event occurred last week, according to the publication, when a father shot his daughter-in-law after she failed to serve him breakfast and tea.
