Ramzan Kadyrov, a close ally of Vladimir Putin, famously cautioned the West not to “repeat Adolf Hitler’s mistakes” by going to war with Russia.
Kadyrov, the Chechen Republic’s president, issued the grim warning in 2018, recalling how the Nazis went to war with the Soviet Union and were defeated by Joseph Stalin.
He warned that “contemporary politicians who like to make threats” risk having their names blacklisted “”Those who lifted their swords against Russia and died by the sword” would go down in history as “those who raised their swords against Russia and died by the sword.”
The 45-year-old penned: “Hitler knew nothing about our history, but present politicians who make threats against our country should read the chronicles of the past to avoid repeating the sins of their forefathers.
“Otherwise, their names will go down in history as those who raised their swords against Russia and fell at the hands of the sword.”
He continued, saying: “True, throughout the war, German divisions advanced straight on Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad. Hitler, on the other hand, did not speak Russian and knew nothing about Russian history.
“Otherwise, he would have second-guessed adopting the route already taken by the French, Swedes, Poles, and others and terminating his life in the same shameful manner as all these aggressors.”
The warning has come back to haunt Western nations, with the UK allegedly sending its “castle on wheels” Mastiff highly armoured vehicle to Ukraine to aid in the fight against Vladimir Putin.
