The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry was said to be at an all-time low when the younger brother chose to make a visit to the Queen on Thursday.
Harry has undoubtedly offended his loving old brother with his actions, two years after departing senior royals, one year after Oprah’s shocking interview, and a new snub at Prince Philip’s burial.
When Harry arrived in Windsor, Prince William and Kate Middleton were on a ski trip with their children. The Duke of Sussex was able to visit his father Charles and stepmother Camilla, but he was unable to meet William before leaving the country.
“The Duke of Cambridge has been his brother’s harshest critic, shocked by reports of bullying of royal employees and by claims of racism, and as a result a chasm has opened up between them,” says Richard Kaye in the Daily Mail.
“He hasn’t seen Harry since the two of them jointly dedicated a monument of their mother outside Kensington Palace in July, and contact has been irregular since then,” he continues.
“A friend of the duke replies, ‘He doesn’t enjoy talking about Harry.’ ‘It causes him a headache,’ he explains.
“The chasm between them is an open wound that hasn’t yet started to heal. William is particularly concerned about Harry’s book contract, fearing that he and his wife Kate may be targeted.
“‘He recognises the need of reconciliation and all that, but he is concerned about his father getting “ambushed” by Harry.’
“It is not thought that Harry and Meghan met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their 24 hours on British soil,” Richard concluded. Since Harry pulled the nuclear button on his regal life, William and Harry’s friendship has been at an all-time low.”
