A fugitive cartel leader sought in 200 countries was apprehended because his model girlfriend uploaded a photo of them on social media.
Brian Donaciano Olguin Berdugo, also known as Pitt, 39, was apprehended in an apartment complex in Cali, Colombia’s Valle del Cauca region.
His arrest happened when his model girlfriend, with whom he had spent many nights in a fancy apartment, posted a photo of him on her Facebook page.
The Mexican national is alleged to have come in Colombia to arrange cocaine sales on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-Army People’s (FARC).
According to a local media trafficker, Bedrugo violated all security rules while with the model, the identity of whom has not been released.
She even persuaded him to visit the popular tourist attraction Cerro de los Cristales, where he was pictured with her.
When US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers alerted Colombian Anti-Narcotics Police of the suspect’s whereabouts, his destiny was sealed.
According to accounts, security cameras at the Jose Maria Cordova International Airport filmed him with another lovely woman.
Colombian intelligence operatives then began following Berdugo and detained him after nearly two weeks of monitoring.
“We feel this outcome was the most crucial in terms of catching Mexican cartel delegates who come to perpetrate drug trafficking crimes with FARC in Cauca,” stated police spokesperson General Jorge Vargas Valencia.
The Mexican drug boss is being detained in detention pending extradition to the United States.
Lawyers are attempting to block his extradition, but police allege they were given USD 265,000 as a bribe to free him.
The Sinaloa Cartel, together with its competitors the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, is one of the world’s most renowned drug cartels (CJNG).
In February, a guy who admitted to assisting the cartel in the acid dissolution of numerous dead bodies was released from prison.
Previously, the cartel’s head, known as ‘El Cano,’ was apprehended at a chicken store after a brawl in which two people were killed.
