Dost Muhammad Mazari assaulted in Punjab Assembly

Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari was attacked by the assembly members while he was trying to convene the session to elect the Leader of the House.

The session was to convene to elect the new Chief Minister of Punjab and Pervaiz Elahi and Hamza Shehbaz were competing for the slot.

Punjab Assembly session became a battleground and echoed with the protests by the members of the House.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack on deputy speaker during his speech in the ongoing National Assembly session.

In line with the Lahore High Court directives, Dost Muhammad Mazari was to convene the session.

As the political temperature rises, strict security arrangements have been made in the assembly to deal with any unwelcoming situation.

The anti-riot force entered the assembly hall and booked 4 members of the House for assaulting the deputy speaker.
