United States Capitol rioter feels guilty who said he was acting on Trump’s orders

A jury convicted an Ohio who claimed he was acting on US President Donald Trump’s orders when he robbed things from the US Capitol during last year’s riot, handing prosecutors yet another significant victory.

Dustin Thompson, 38, was found guilty of all charges he faced, including interference of an official proceeding and theft of government property, by a federal jury in the District of Columbia.

During the disturbances, Thompson admitted to breaking into the Capitol and taking a bottle of wine and a coat rack.

However, Thompson used a novel legal technique to convince the jury that he was acting on Trump’s orders and that the former president is ultimately accountable for the Capitol mob.

According to source, Thompson told the jury, “I don’t know what I was thinking other than being directed by the president to go to the Capitol.” “I was totally engrossed in the situation.”

Thompson will be sentenced in July by U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton, who presided over the trial. Thompson was ordered to be held in jail until the hearing.
