Over 0.3 million people eligible to vote in Hangu by-poll

ISLAMABAD: The election campaign against the vacant seat of NA-33 Hangu will conclude mid-night tonight.

According to Provincial Election commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the By-Election of the constituency will be held on Sunday. A total of more than three-hundred thousand registered voters will cast their votes.

The ECP has set up two-hundred and ten polling stations including sixty-four males, fifty-five females and ninety-one combined. Similarly, ten polling stations have been declared sensitive and seventy-seven most sensitive.

Five candidates are in the run for the NA-33 seat. The polling will start at 08.00 a.m in the morning and it will continue till 05.00 p.m. without any break.

The seat fell vacant due to the death of MNA Khial Zaman.

Among them are Saeed Umar from Awami National Party, Obaidullah from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Nadeem Khan from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Atiq Ahmed and Muhammad Saeed who are independent candidates.

A control room has been set up in the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to monitor the by-election.

Provincial Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Raziq appealed to all voters of the constituency to exercise their voting right without any fear or danger.

The spokesman for the Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday said that a total of 318,000 people would exercise their right to franchise in the NA-33 Hangu by-election to be held on April 17.
