COVID-19 advisories will be reduced by the US government

After public health experts announced a shift in how they will examine COVID-19 concerns, the US State Department stated Thursday it will drastically reduce “Do Not Travel” advice for international places.

Nearly 120 nations and territories are currently listed as “Level Four: Do Not Travel” by the agency, which includes majority of Europe, Japan, Israel, and Russia.

According to the government, “about 10% of all travel advisories will be at Level 4,” which includes all risk indicators, not only COVID. “We believe the new approach will assist US individuals in making better-informed decisions on the safety of foreign travel,” the statement stated.

On Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that it would be reduced from approximately 90 the countries it rates as Level 4, starting Monday.

Airlines and other travel organisations have pressed the Biden administration to abolish the COVID negative test restrictions for overseas travellers prior to departure, as many other countries have done.

Officials from the administration say the matter is being looked at, but no adjustments have been declared by health officials.
