Russian warship sinks after reported missile hit

The Russian News Agencies in Moscow claimed that the Russian missile cruiser Moskva sank as it was being towed back to port.

Ukraine’s armed forces also reported about the flagship of Moscow’s Black Sea fleet had been hit by missiles.

Ukraine’s military says the ship was hit by “Neptune” anti-ship cruise missiles, resulting in vital damage and fire. Russia had reported localized fires aboard that caused ammunition to detonate.

The Moskva typically has a crew approaching 500. Russian news agencies reported that they had been evacuated.

U.S. President Joe Biden said he’s considering sending a senior official to visit Ukraine. EU leaders plan to discuss common gas purchases at a summit next month, as they seek to avoid opposing each other for alternative energy supplies while tumbling imports from Russia.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the war in Ukraine could disrupt the global economic recovery from the pandemic, as fuel and food costs ascend in what IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva called “a crisis on top of a crisis.”
