Officials in the area say a four-year-old McIntosh County kid who went missing more than 24 hours ago has been found dead. All indicators point to the drowning of Zaiven, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer.
Since Zaiven Houke went missing on Monday, authorities and search teams have been working nonstop.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the FBI requested assistance from OHP, and the Emergency Response Team, Dive Team, and Lake Patrol responded.
Near a boat dock, in seven feet of water, was where OHP’s Dive Team spotted him using radar between 5 and 6 p.m.
The OHP Lt. Lance Schroyer said, “We walked down into the lake right off the boat pier where we started to sonar the water with lake patrol.” A 4-year-old kid was found submerged in the water at 5:45 p.m., after the dive team had entered the water and ERT had worked the coastline.
Houke may be seen racing towards the dock on the lake on video surveillance from a nearby residence. Instead of getting through a closed dock gate, he slipped and drowned.
“You can’t be too careful when it comes to the ocean or the sea. A person’s life is at risk if they venture into the water “Schroyer mentioned this.
She thanked everyone for their efforts in the hunt for her son and said that he was much missed by all of those who knew him.
The cause of death is still being investigated by the medical examiner, but OHP predicts that it will be ruled a drowning.
