A Colombian researcher has been killed in Uganda’s Kibale National Park after being crushed by an elephant.
According to the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Sebastián Ramrez Amaya, a Colombian researcher based in the United States, was conducting usual study in the Park Forest with an assistant when the event occurred (UWA).
An elephant charging at them forced the couple to escape in opposite directions. ‘The elephant chased Sebastian and crushed him to death,’ according to UWA spokesperson Bashir Hangi.
Chimpanzees and other primates in the park were among the subjects of his research, according to his website.
Kibale’s first fatal elephant attack in 50 years has been reported by UWA.
Another park in the nation, Murchison Falls, saw a Saudi tourist murdered by an elephant in January after he walked away from the car he was traveling in with others.
